The famous Langtang region located in the north of Kathmandu belongs to the Langtang National Park which is Nepal’s second largest national park. The area is rich in Tibetan culture and bio-diversity. Langtang and Helambu are the two different areas. The river valley of Langtang offers healthy forests, some endangered wildlife, breathtaking view of high mountains including Langtang Lirung (7245 m), the tallest in the region, holly lake Gosainkund and most importantly the live culture of the people. The Bhote Kosi, Trisuli river valley is an important migratory route for birds traveling between India and Tibet.
The Helambu region is the settlement of the famous Sherpa people situated in the southern buffer of the National Park. Langtang and Helambu region is easily accessible from Kathmandu. The area offers mountaineering, adventure trekking as well as pilgrimage treks. The area is quite popular for learning Tibetan culture.
